WELLBEING OF STAFF AND VISITORS

Exclude staff, volunteers and visitors who are unwell.


At entrances to both studios, signage is clearly displayed to indicate that persons who are even slightly unwell are not permitted to enter the  premises. At the start of each session or when a person arrives at the studio that are asked to confirm that they have no symptoms, have not travelled recently and have not been in contact with anyone who has shown symptoms or is a recently returned traveller.


Provide staff and volunteers with information and training on COVID-19, including when to get tested, physical distancing and cleaning, and how to manage a sick visitor.


Our staff have been advised of Dance Souk's updated policies. Team members will be provided with a printed copy and will be advised of any changes. They have been advised to get tested if they have symptoms, or may be at risk. Physical distancing guidelines are displayed prominently around the premises and at entrances. Our strict cleaning policies have ben increased and any person who becomes symptomatic whilst on the premises will be asked to return to their home, self isolate, seek medical advice and testing as soon as possible. 


Make staff aware of their leave entitlements if they are sick or required to self-isolate.


Staff are aware of their leave entitlements which are included on their most current pay slip. If they are required to self-isolate, they also have the option to teach their lessons online if they are well enough and wish to do so.


Display conditions of entry (website, social media, venue entry). Consider displaying the maximum number of people allowed in each room shown at a clear place of entry.


We have notified our students and staff via email, social media and visible signage at the entrance at our studios of our new conditions of entry. This includes the capacity clearly stated for each area. 


PHYSICAL DISTANCING

Ensure the number of people in a facility does not exceed one person per 4 square metres (including staff).


Our reception area is limited to 4 people, downstairs studio to 10 and upstairs studio to a maximum of 20 people. 

    

Ensure sport and recreation activities have no more than 20 participants, plus the instructor and any assistants, per space and comply with one person per 4 square metres.


Bookings beyond the limits for lessons and classes of max 20 participants and minimum of 4sqm per person are not possible due to updates to our booking system.


Ensure activities are non-contact as much as practical. Accidental contact may occur but no deliberate body contact drills.


The delivery method for lessons and classes (except in the case of persons from the same household dancing together) will be taught in a no contact format.


Ensure any spectators comply with 1.5 metres physical distance where practical, such as through staggered seating. Household contacts are not required to distance.


Sufficient studio seating is provided to allow for 1.5m distancing as required.



Assess the safe capacity of communal facilities such as showers, change rooms and lockers. Communicate this at their entrance and have strategies in place to reduce crowding and promote physical distancing.


Our studios do not have locker or change room facilities. Our shower, which is very rarely used will not be accessible for use during this time.


Where practical, stagger the use of communal facilities. Strongly encourage visitors to shower/change at home where possible.


Each of our 2 bathrooms only has capacity for 1 person at a time which will limit the chance of crowding.

    

Reduce crowding wherever possible and promote physical distancing with markers on the floor, including where people are asked to queue.

    

The maximum capacity for each space will ensure crowding is minimised. Our modified timetable reduces the number of people arriving and leaving at the same time, therefore queuing will not be required.


Have strategies in place to manage gatherings that may occur immediately outside the premises.

    

Students, staff and guests are reminded to maintain 1.5m distancing at ALL times, including when outside the premises.


Use telephone or video platforms for essential staff meetings where practical.


We have been using Zoom video conferencing, phone or electronic communication methods for staff updates.

    

Review regular business deliveries and request contactless delivery and invoicing where practical.


We do not have regular business deliveries. Contactless delivery is requested when necessary.

  

HYGIENE AND CLEANING

Adopt good hand hygiene practices.


In addition to our regular hygiene policies, all staff and students are required to wash their hands thoroughly before each lesson, at anytime they touch their face or other object, and at the end of their lesson. Good hand washing instructions are displayed in each bathroom, in our kitchen area and around the studios.

    

Ensure hand sanitiser is accessible at the venue entry and throughout the facility or ground.


Hand sanitiser is located at reception, the front door of our upstairs studio, in our kitchen area and at both music stations.

    

Ensure bathrooms are well stocked with hand soap and paper towels.


Both bathroom facilities are well stocked with hand soap, paper towels, hand sanitiser and disinfectant spray.

    

Provide visual aids above hand wash basins to support effective hand washing.


See above. Poster are displayed in each bathroom and in our kitchen area.

   


Encourage visitors to bring their own water bottles, sweat towels and equipment.


Students are requested to bring their own towels for Yoga classes or if required for other lessons. Water is available for purchase or students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles. This advice is posted on our website, booking confirmations and we regularly remind our students. 

    

Clean frequently used indoor hard surface areas, including children’s play areas, at least daily; first with detergent and water, and then disinfect. Clean frequently touched areas and surfaces, including in communal facilities, several times per day.


All hard surfaces are cleaned and disinfected daily, with high touch areas such as doors, phones, printers, stereos now cleaned between each session.

    

Clean areas used for high intensity cardio classes with detergent and disinfectant after each use.

    

We do not run high intensity cardio classes at this time.


Reduce sharing of equipment (including hire equipment) where practical and ensure these are cleaned with detergent and disinfectant between use.


We are minimising the use of equipment and props during our lessons. If the use is required they are cleaned and disinfected before and after each use.

    

Ensure there is accessible detergent/disinfectant and gloves for visitors to use, should they wish.


Detergent, disinfectant and gloves are provided for use and are located in our accessible, open kitchen area.

    

Disinfectant solutions need to be maintained at an appropriate strength and used in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions.


All cleaning and disinfectant products are used as directed.

    

Staff are to wear gloves when cleaning and wash hands thoroughly before and after with soap and water.


As stated above, gloves are provided and staff are already accustomed to the requirement to use gloves when cleaning at all times.

    

Encourage contactless payment options.


The majority of our transactions and payments are already conducted online. When clients wish to make a purchase in person, contactless payment is the norm. Payment by cash is very rare in our business and we have advised our students to limit cash payments wherever possible.

 

RECORD KEEPING

Keep a record of name and a mobile number or email address for all staff, volunteers, participants, visitors and contractors for a period of at least 28 days. Ensure records are used only for the purposes of tracing COVID-19 infections and are stored confidentially and securely.


All students are booked into lessons via our online booking software. This ensures that we have a complete record of who is in the studio at any time. Any visitors are required to sign in to the studio with their contact details. All of this information is kept securely and remains confidential.




Make your staff aware of the COVIDSafe app and its benefits to support contact tracing if required.


Staff have been notified about the benefits of the COVIDSafe app. My understanding is that all staff presently teaching in the studio are using the app.


Cooperate with NSW Health if contacted in relation to a positive case of COVID-19 at your workplace, and notify SafeWork NSW on 13 10 50.


Our policy is to comply with all NSW Health guidelines. The health and safety of our students, staff and community are of utmost importance. We commit to cooperating fully with NSW Health if required and agree to notify SafeWork NSW if necessary.
